It's not often I comment on anything German, however, i saw something that will no doubt put a smile on you lips and a spring in your step..... AFV Club have confirmed that they are starting to do the (long-rumoured) 251 series. Here as a taster, are two images from the new releases. They won't be available until March/April 2004 so you will have time to save your money.......

Now apart from that excellent news, all we need are the M3 Halftracks.....enjoy, Jim

Now that's good news, if the are less expensive and just as good as the Tamiya versions then it's terrific news! LOL :-)

Looks like it is going to be a killer kit towing their new guns around. (++) (:-)

Hi If this model is anything like the two guns they have just released in the details department, this is most definitely going to be one 'killer' of a kit. Most probably beyond my talents to do justice too. Or course, that most likely won't stop me from adding to my growing coolection of boxes under the bed gathering dust and cat hair. Ha!

Take care, sgirty

if the are less expensive

Two chances of that, slim and none! AFV club kits are very nice, but not easy on the wallet!

and just as good as the Tamiya versions

and two chances of that most probably and certainly!
AFV club kits are beautiful works of molding art.

I'll grab the late and the /9 for sure.

Well, the Tamiya 251, (if you can get it) is somewhat outdated, if you can it'll certainly be cheaper, but isn't it easier to build from the box rather than spend a vast amount of time on a rebuild?....Jim

hey guys

great to hear of a new release by afv - ive never had the pleasure of building any halftracks as yet (i know, the horror!) and wondered which is the best - afv, tamiya, or someone else? i mainly model tamiya kits, and find them the best ive done so far, and if im goin to be doing this kind of kit then id like it to be a good one!

any opinions?

alpha :-)

Alpha as far as ease of building it would be Tamiya Italeri and DML have some halftracks available as well DML has some SdKfz 250 and Italeri has the Demag light halftrack series out They are not too bad,but sometimes the fit is a bit tricky
Awhile back I did some figuring out on making the Tamiya SdKfz 251/1c into a more accurete kit I would have spent around $60 U.S. in AM parts I could have gotten the base kit for $12-15 I just didn't feel it was worth the price The interior on that kit is just non-existent
I am very glad DML and AFV Club are doing those variants #:-) (++)

Hmmm... another German kit for me to make either knocked out or captured. I agree I would LOVE to have AFV do a new US Half-Track, Gunnie are you listining to tell you AFV Club friend, but I'm not going to complain about this kit. As universal as the Sdkfz 251 was to the Germans, and as a poor a kit as the Tamiya one is, I don't begrudge the German model makes this one. At least it's not let another German item that has more makers making it, like the Leopold, than there actually were examples of the real thing.

Rodger, my thoughts entirely. While in my heart of hearts I would love to see the M3 series, a Churchill plus all variants, a range of allied a/cs and all possible marks of the Centurion, I know its not going to happen for a while yet... I might even build a 251. Only today I got a Tamiya 120mm figure (German) so there is still some chance.....Jim
