A very interesting release from Hobbyfan 1/35 U.S. Marines in Afghanistan `counterattack` HF723! Looking pretty good! No sign of the kit yet, only in 1999.co.jp where it seems to hit the market in early February! Hope to see it in real!

Awesome, finally something new in 'modern US' from Hobby Fan.
I hope it will be avalaible soon.
This scene is real nice to complete my new diorama later this year...

I have some of the hobby fan modern figures, and they are pretty good. could combine these 2 with the gun group to make a little fire team.

Good looking set. Should USMC have M4A1 or M16A4? Either way, they should have a PEQ-16 not a PEQ-2.

I am thinking the same thing. I thought the USMC never gave up on their long-barrel M-16A4s. Live-Resin M-16A4s and PEQ-16s should correct this.

I think these figures are US Army soldiers and no USMC soldiers.
I don't mind, great quality and perfect to add some Live Resin to it.
All the modern figures are made very realistic, I used them all in my dioramas, can't wait to get my hands on these.....

Greg, I have seen some Marine units kitted out with M4's apart from recon and MARSOC elements....so not entirely wrong to have them..!!! There is a great pic of (Google on the net): '1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Dec. 19, 2013' where all the Marine grunts are armed with M4's.

Thanks Jas - good to be brought up to date. I'm betting they're not fitted with PEQ-2 though.... (Edit) yep PEQ-16. Seems though USMC (grunt) M4 use is mutually exclusive with PEQ-2 use.

I suspect that manufacturers will treat the lasers the same as the stock on the M249: 15 years after being withdrawn from widespread service, they'll still be being kitted as 'modern'.

Yes Paul they look more Army...but I did see and have it cut out of one of our Aussie newspapers where the Marines are on the offensive in 2012, a couple of them are wearing ACH/MICH covered helmets. This is actually why I cut it out for reference material. Perhaps some Marines or our US buddies can confirm maybe the Marines trialled the helmets for possible replacement of the PASGT..

Just found this on 2011 thread: 'Military Photos.Net' "Seen a few photo series lately with Marines wearing MICH helmets in-country, and I'm not quite sure what's up. We still all get issued the LWH stateside, so I don't know if the Corps is beginning a shift towards the MICH or what. They may just be trialing it with one or a few units in Afghanistan and seeing which Marines prefer. Last I hear, MARCORSYSCOM was still participating in the Enhanced Combat Helmet program (with the intent to begin fielding it this fall), which is supposed to have a shape similar to the MICH but provide ballistic protection against rifle rounds, rather than just shrapnel as with the PASGT/MICH/LWH.
