Finishing up my Chapparral kit and thought a Vulcan would go good with it. I see a couple of offerings on Ebay for an AFV version...looks expensive. Didn't Italerie do one? Is there maybe a vulcan cannon system I could kitbash onto a 113?

Yes, italeri did one, but I think it's been OOP for z while.
Academy did one, also

The only plastic M163's are Italeri's and Academy's(nearly impossible to find) and a resin one by Verlinden(turret only I believe) I think? The Academy kit is far superior to the Italeri, I have built the Italeri and have the Acad in my stash and it looks 100 times better. I would hold out for the Academy kit if I were you, just keep checking eBay.

I actually ended up with two of the Academy kits. Both have the Eduard PE and a 32nd metal barrel Vulcan. Would you be interested in a trade? I'm not looking for anything ridiculous. If you are, shoot me a PM with some items you have. Thanks!

Hobby Fan also makes a conversion for the Tamiya M113. It has a full interior as well. It is still available from Lucky Model.

Forgot to mention that the Italeri kit's turret is under scaled.

If you can find the really early Eduard set, it provides a relatively complete interior, maybe a better option than the overpriced Hobby Fan stuff?

You can not compare those. Eduard gives interior and some exterior details in their sets. You have to have M163 model as a donor kit for Eduard to work. Hobby Fan gives you the complete interior and exterior to modify any M113 into M163. Hobby Fan offering is top notch, beautifully cast resin that build into a fantastic rendition of Vulcan. Here's what can be done with Hobby Fan and some scratch: link
