I finished a Tamiya MkII F/G. I first tried Bronco workable track links only to find they DID NOT fit the drive sprocket. Then got Spade Ace metal links only to find they did not fit the sprocket either. I tried to fit them to the Alain Panzer II drive sprocket also. Same problem. The Tamiya and Alain sprockets appear to have identical sprocket tooth spacing, diameter etc.
Is there an aftermarket individual track link set that fits the old Tamiya and Alain models or do I have to do surgery on the sprockets?
Desperate!

Sounds almost "Hobb's choice"! Buying AM tracks and sprockets - Fruils? Maybe some other set? is expensive. Fighting with the kit rubberbands is dreadful.

The Bronco tracks are for their II-D kits and could help out the east-bloc II-D kits, as well - different tracks from the A/B/C and F/G tanks. So probably would not be of use here.

What to do? MAYBE, if you were by a model-show, you could pick up one of those Dragon Pz II kits for less than a set of AM tracks - you could, if having the old Tamiya II-F is "dear", transplant the Dragon sprockets and link tracks.

It may also be possible to find one of those more-recent Tamiya III A/B/C kits which have pretty nice sprockets and link-and-length tracks... Swap those in to get an improved F.

Personally, I'm afraid I would just bin the old Tamiya F thing and do the Dragon II-F (even though that kit has the somewhat wrong springs, it does come out pretty nice - much better than T's old F, and often comes along at show vendors and on evilbay for 20 or so...) to get an "F" onto my shelf.

Good Luck however you go!

Just trim the teeth off the sprockets where needed.

I thought I found a store that had the sprocket but it was no longer in stock. I got the tracks but have since found out the correct tooth count is 26 though the Fruil sprocket only has 25 teeth as does the Dragon sprocket. Tamiya/Alain only have 22!!!!!! No way to use aftermarket tracks without a new sprocket or surgery. Will try surgery.
Thanks all.
