He guys,
I promised to keep you all posted, so here are the next pictures of the building proces. It's Academy's Tiger 1 early and i'm converting it to one of the first four send to russia. I painted the turret interior this time and did some scratchbuilding, the turret bin and front mudguards. I also closed the hatch and placed the second pistol port. So let me know what you think. Any comments are welcome, but as recently said it has to be constructive!!!

the workplace

scratchbuild turret bin

scratchbuild mudguard

before painting

after painting, before wash

after wash

what it will look like

and that's all you can see when the roof is on, sniff

the completed rear, as you can see it differs very much from the later Tigers

the new pistol port

that's it for now, next time more about the roadwheels and construction of the exterior

Ola Wouter

That`s a great start on this kit. I really like the details you did in the Turret. I still have this kit lying on the shelves and I want to built it once.
Is that Opel Blitz on the side of the bench an hint to my project ??? :-) :-) #:-) #:-)

No it`s a great tank you are building and I like the additional stuff you added

Can you post the reference you used to guide your building of the interior? I can not identify the cylinders on the roof top. Also, what shade of white did you apply to the interior and describe your wash.
thanks

He, i will search the reference and post them. i used "broken white" for the interior, it's an acrylic paint from an artist shop. The wash is a mixture of black and raw umber oil paint heavily diluted with white spirit. i hope this answers your question.

I thank you for your response. I am very curious as to the cylinders. What are they used for?
thanks again

Hey buddy !! Coming along nicely !! Nice scratch building too... I thought for a second that you had put the pistol port on backwards but for some strange reason it is just the way you have done it !! Very well done !! If any judge says it is backwards send him to me!! One thing you can do is to fix the circular holes just above the front mug guards ..On the very early models there was no lip around the hole ... You just have to scrape away the raised rim... I hope you know what I mean.! If not just ask and I'll try and explain...Maybe you did it and I can't see it in the pictures. Can't wait to see more.

LOL, APBullet, I am risking my hide here. I am sorry I can't think of anything constructive to say, this is just too nice, and the attention to details are awesome. I love how you did the storage. Very nice.

210 Cav, the cylinders on the roof are breathing tubes for use by the crew.

APbullet, I like the detail you have added to the interior and have some questions:

1) from what I can see you have added detail before joining the 2 halves of the turret together - any particular reason for this? I ask because I wonder if you will be able to fill the seam ok of the 2 halves

2) the detailing work you have done - is this all scratched or is it from the eduard interior set for the academy tiger?

3) nice work on the turret basket - is this a solid block of plastic or formed to shape? - if the latter you seem to have the general shape well mastered

4) are you planning to put turret crew in this or leave it all open so you can see all the detail work you have done? - seems a shame to hide all this fine work :-)

Thanks for the comments guys,

Lee,

(1) I found it easier painting this way and there will be some more detail around the seam, such as reserve visor blocks and some boxes. I'm closing the seam only from the outside because the rooftop goes on you won't be seing much of the inner detail, which i have to admit, is a shame.

(2)it's partially scratched such as the wires, and indeed the Eduard PE set.

(3)the basket is made of plastic card, one top and one bottom in the same shape. Another piece is bend and glued in th right shape. I supported the corners with pieces of sprue on the inside. Then it was sanded in the right shape to fit the turret.

(4)As i said, the roof goes on. I will make a dio were the crew is reloading ammo. So yes most of the work will be hidden from view, but i had fun building it.

Hope this answer your questions?

Wouter
