Group,
I am in contact with a model maker who can cut brickwork sheets. He uses a type of circuit board and wood.
He has already told me that, due to shipping prices, he should keep the sheets to about 10 inch x 8 inch. Otherwise his questions are:
What patterns of brick?
What material to laser it into: circuit board; plastic; wood?
Thickness?
What else might you want in brick modeling sheets?

Styrene plastic would probably be the material of choice as it's easy to cut (relatively) and easy to glue (to other styrene parts and accessories). However, there are many other sheet brick pattern products available in vaccu-form styrene, resin, plaster/hydrocal, etc. so anything new would have to have some distinct advantage. Disregarding styrene as a 'material of choice', and easily cut, it should also be able to be damaged for ruins, etc., thick enough for a scale wall thickness, and have interior wall surface detail, texture, etc. Various exterior brick patterns as well as stonework, ie., cut stone, field stone, with mortar or dry-fitted, etc. Maybe separate exterior and interior wall sheets and the individual modeller can vary and determine his own wall thickness. Just a thought!

What about for brick roadways? What would people like to see?

I would like to see a road with even ruts or depressions, depicting the crossfall from the road crown to the shoulder, curbs, even brick or stone walls along side. Resin, vacuform and hydrocasting molds have done this with varying degrees of success. How well could his machine work the irregular surface texture? Would the cuts be linear or could he do round cobbles?
