I've seen the news and I would be very happy if they are confirmed by Academy... IID is one of my favorite Merkava versions.

Indeed MkIID, MkIIID and MkIV are the most impressive IDF tanks! It was about time to see them in plastic!
I really hope Academy will not disappoint us . And don't forget the toy fair in Nuremberg held at 29 January up to 3 February! I hope MENG will come with some big IDF offering!

Thiw is the Merkava MkIV already out in the market! We are talking about the Merkava MkIID, which is planned to be released! Concerning IDF AFVS missing the plastic market:
(1)Magach 7
(2)Puma APC
(3)Namer APC
(4)Nagmashot
(5)Nakpadon
(6)Nagmachon
some of the main variants missing! Potential future plans for companies!

I would think that with the HB release of the Merkava ARV a Namer would not be too far off. But then again Meng has been hitting it pretty hard.

So this same discussion is happening over on idf-modelling.com and missing-lynx. One bloke on ML is saying that this design has been in the works for a few years now and it is NOT going to happen. Does anyone know for sure on this??

Well
Lets see
A IDF person sells Merkava 2D info for Legend and help them and than a resin kit of Merkava 2D come out and hit the market. The person that helps say on the net forums that it is great kit and very accurate and bla bla bla.
Later the same person start to trash on the Legend kits suddenly ....
Than Legend sell the same info to Academy to produce the plastic version of 2D.
The same person predict that the coming kit will be not accurate and bla bla boa
So thats the info about the Academy kit so far

Hey Doc;
I did notice that on "another" site as well. Do you know if Academy is indeed producing this kit? If so you need to get a Merkava Mk2 book going! Hope all is well.

Sorry to high-jack this thread, but I have a 'dumb' question. So you all are talking about the IID. I know there is a 3D. What does the 'D' reference? In looking at the pics above in this link, the turret looks very much like the IV, so was wondering if the 'D' is the additions to the side of the turret that round if off???
Thanks.
Thanks.

Much like the A1 on an Abrams the D denotes one of several upgrades made to the base vehicle in question. I.e. The was a MkII B and D as catagorized and catalogued upgrades, but there are several other upgrades as well that are not. In this instance the D model had the space age looking armour added to the turret, as the most easily recognizable improvements.
Also pics from the Nuremberg toy fair now have confirmed this is coming this year.

Here they are: http://www.primeportal.net/models/thomas_voigt8/academy/
Pictures show that it is in an early stage of development! I hope they will not disappoint us and finally we will see one of the most interesting IDF subjects missing in plastic!
