What is the basket-like thingie in the upper part of the A frame for? After fighting to bend the AFV photoetch part, I really need to know.

When the A-frame is in the down position, it is where you stow the block and tackle or hook on the cable. Keeps everything nice and neet.

Hi Chuck,
It does hold the blocks and cables and things, but it's primary purpose is to prevent the cables from dropping through the hole in the apex of the boom and tangling while being lifted from stowed to operational position. ( IIRC... from my OJT training at Ft. Bliss, TX )
