Might come in handy for the second World of Tanks campaign. I recall looking for a kit of this vehicle a while ago but not finding one. Too many interesting kits being released, and not enough time to build all of them!

I think there were a total of over 80 of these vehicles produced. That's why they received an "M" number and not a "T" number. They were never deployed of course, just used stateside as training tanks.

Nice to see that DRAGONs "BLACK LABEL" is taking the initiative with some of the lesser-known AFVs in US service, the M6A1 Heavy Tank and the M103A1 being at the forefront. How about a T6, which was the initial M4 Sherman prototype? Would also be nice to see a US-version of the MBT70, M47, and an initial M60...

With all of the "Panzer '46" subjects, I am glad Allied non-starters and "what-ifs" are getting more attention.

This is the kind of news that makes me think I might not be crazy hoping for a plastic Black Prince or IS-6.

A Black Prince would be very cool, fingers crossed. This will most likely find it's way into my collection.

The best thing about the US "Non-starters" is that they were actually built, tested, and in the case of the new 1/35 DRAGON/BLACK LABEL M103A1, the real 1:1 scale thing actually went into service. Those German "Panzer '46" fantasies never even made it off the drawing board... Not that they're un-interesting, mind you...

For a great book about US Armor AND Softskin projects, may I suggest: "SEARCHING FOR PERFECTION" An Encyclopedia of U.S. Army T-Series Vehicle Development, 1925-1958, by Robert R. Haugh, published by PORTRAYAL PRESS.

Nearly every vehicle entry has an accompanying black-and-white photo to get your creative juices flowing. I was very impressed by the huge number (HUNDREDS of them!) and variety of Armored and Softskined Vehicles that the U.S. Army actually developed and tested. Many of these vehicles made it into service, but by the same token, many failed to meet expectations. All in all, it's a great trip into the inner recesses of the Army's vehicular R&D programs!

Format: 8" x 10.75", paperback, 100 pages...

Got both the M103 and MBT 70 on order from HLJ. Not really interested in this one M6 heavy, but now am quite hopeful we will see a t-29. also saw that Trumpeter is doing the IS4 and Obj 704 (TD) I remember about 10 years ago when Dragon showed up and started cranking out real 1st class German kits. NOw we seem to be living in interesting times once again with all the American and Soviet rare tanks coiming out. Yay Trumpy and Dragon...keep em coming !!!!!!
