Another Panzer III on the way from Dragon Models, but this time a late model with winter track.

With this announcement, Dragon has officially produced more AFV's than Germany did during the Third Reich.

But WAIT! It's a new mix of old sprues with maybe a few NEW parts tossed in!

I'm sure that it is a fine Pz. III kit - maybe in this case a "later production Ausf L", and definitely a long-barrel III. And I'm certain that some number of Pz III of this configuration served in "the east" in later 1942 and 1943. And the winterketten are pretty cool.

I wouldn't mind, however, if Dragon were to consider making one of these with turret and side-schurzen... there were plenty of III seen from late 1942 and early 1943 on wearing schurtzen - something currently only available in Dragon's III-N kit.

I really wish this had schurzen. I will say that the L is one of the best looking Pz IIIs in my opinion. Whoever makes a nice turret schurzen aftermarket kit should see sales.

I could! I could also scratch them - not actually very difficult at all, being as they are mostly flat plates and small frames. But I'm a guy who would prefer to spend the $50 or more this (or most any other similar) new kit will cost and get pretty much what I want without having to spend addition for AM bits.

I do suspect that Dragon will get around to a long-gun III with schurzen - here now is the near-perfect kit for a legit jump to that configuration, and the D has the schurzen available from the N kit. Maybe we can take bets on when this will happen! After all, first came that StuG III G, and then that kit with schurzen...

And the markings will be "Unknown Unit, Eastern Front, 1943."
