Curious if any fellow modelers have purchased an aftermarket barrel (Barrel Depot, etc) for their M1A1 from Trumpeter or found the barrel in the 1535 kit to be adequate?
Thanks,
Chris

The barrel is fine. It just depends on if you prefer plastic ones or metal ones. The kit has other major issues though. The biggest are the hokey, rubber wheel hubs and the front left lower edge of the turret. The wheel hubs don't fit well and look bad. I don't know why they went with the poly-cap hubs. The front of teh turret on the lower left side has teh wrong ange and comes up too far. You can see these and other problems in Vodnik's M1 Comparison Article.

Bottom line, I would get a better M1A1 model to start with.

Yep, even the older Dragon kits are better. Save the mine plows and roller for other projects.
