I am on the final stage of my Tiger I build. I painted it German Gray and the problem is, it looks too dark. I like to lighten it up, how do I go about doing it? It already has the decals on it and the flat coat is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The dark gray used to paint German armor was very dark. If you used an acrylic flat base you can still do an oil wash over the surface-light gray, ochre, earth colored mixes or something similar. If it is an enamel base you do the same thing with acrylic washes. You can also use pastels or pigments, either basic colors or custom mix your own based on your own likes or needs.

For dark gray paints you can use a mix of light blue, orange and white to give you a blue-gray dust that will lighten specific areas or the entire surface. Other light color dust mixes will work to lighten the surface as well. Even darker earth color tones will still give a dusty surface that will lighten the overall color.

You can also try using some brand of pigment like Tamiya or Mig productions. They have faded shades of gray specifically made to weather German Panzer gray
