Darren, this is a really nice review. It looks like a great book to have not just as a reference but to get a very personal look at life in the war.
Great nations do not fall because of external aggression; they first erode and decay inwardly, so that, like rotten fruit, they fall of themselves. The strength of a country is the sum total of the moral strength of the individuals in that country.

Thank you Russ. As books go this is a good one as rather than most which cover a specific area off conflict or are pure reference, this book provides a very human look at war and I look forward to seeing what the next title is like.

It's nice to see all the memorabilia, letters and photos coming to light now that Germany's version of "The Greatest Generation" is passing on. This book looks like it could inspire about a dozen dioramas just from the photos you have excerpted. Great job, Squire!
