Aloha everyone!!!

In my continue search for an armor topic to build I came across some photo's of the Turkish M60T (if this has been covered I apologize)and from what I gather it seems to be an Israeli designed conversion, they say a Sabra II conversion I guess. For those of you in the know could I simply take the new Academy M60 kit and use that? Or is this not the right version? I know Legends has a couple different Magach conversions. Then again would these be right? HELP!!

Other than the word "M-60" and maybe the road wheels you aren't going to find any straight across features that are the same between the Academy Magach and the M-60T.

The M-60 has different turret armour, a different back deck and rear hull details, different side skirts, the original cupola, different turret basket, different glacis armour, and different tracks.

It's a good idea but they are anywhere near a match.

Yes, it's an Israeli upgrade, the "Sabra"- they'd better take good care of them too, since I doubt they'll be getting any more!

Hi Kurt,
MR Modellbau has a Sabra conversion kit. But to his own words, he did the inital Israeli version while Turkey got a more advanced one.

It might serve as a base but further research is neccesary.

Hey Frenchy, again a good find! I hope that an AM Leopard 1 track could make fit the M60 Sprockets. Damn... one more tank model to build!

I am not an expert on the subject but I know Turkish M60s are modernized in Sabra II pack. I will carry this topic to Turkish forum-Plasticbattle.com and will find a satisfying answer to you.
best regards

As a quick note, recent posts in Turkish forum note that MR Models MR-59 Sabra conversion is not suitable for Turkish conversion as the smoke grenades and some parts of cupola and hull armor are in German style not Israel.
I think this link will be enough helpful for your built.
best regards

Aloha Kurt,

pics of the initial Sabra can be found here:
http://www.panzerbaer.de/types/isr_kpz_m60a3_sabra-a.htm
This the model which is produced by MR Modellbau. So you can see for yourself if the MR Modellbau conversion can be a base for the M60 T.

Enjoy

Hi Kurt,

I finished a Turkish M 60 a few months back and the Sabra conversion is the one to get. There is also some differences between the Turkish and IDF Sabra such as the rear left bin is situated up against the rear track guard brace, they do not have the same exhaust system they do not use the lower front hull add on armour and the front sections of the turret add on armour has been cut down to (I think) accommodate the smoke dischargers cable and they use a different track (the best I came up with for a match was a challenger 2 track) and therefore a new 12 teeth sprocket is required plus you will need to construct an air con unit which is situated in the turret basket and scratch a new mantle add on armour section ( I compared it to the one in the Academy Magach 6b Batash and that is a really good match). I have a few photos on a power point; if you would like a copy send me your e-mail address I’ll add in some photos of my M 60 which may also help.

Hi Kurt,
just talked to a certain manufacturer here in Germany. He said WHEN there will be a new-tooled M60 A1 (e.g. AFV CLUB) there is a certain chance that we MIGHT see an M60 T in resin. But please don`t hold your breath for it and give it some time. Otherwise, converting the M60 T is one HELL of a project.
