Hello
Quick question concerning AK Interactive washes and thinners.
The bottle says "enamel" Yet folks seem to use this with acrylic paints (paints produced by AK).
Is the product with the name on the bottle "enamel" and the word "thinner" for thinner for washes suitable for acrylic paints??
I have been using it as such without an issue, but suddenly looked at the bottle and thought....
Furthermore, washing up with AK washes - do you use water? I have been but, then read on another forum and they were recommending thinners for wash up.
It seems that AK Interactive should use the word acrylics to mean exactly that and not confuse people with words like enamel and thinners which traditionally have been used ONLY with oil paints
Thank you, WilloW

AK Interactives washes and filters are enamel and should be thinned with their white spirit (or mineral spirits etc).
They also produce acrylic paints which should be thinned with their acrylic thinner.
People may be applying the enamels over the cured acrylics, (this is their intended use by design) but they certainly aren't mixing them together.

Thanks Ken. I wasn't discussing mixing them together. Since posting I've done some further reading and my question has now been solved. I read the AK website! I should have done this before posting.....Cheers, WilloW

Sorry for the confusion, I guess it was this part of your staement that confused me:
I read that line as if you were thinning the enamel washes with water, which wouldn't work. My apologies for misinterpreting your post.

Hi Ken
Seems I was the one to be confused...It was after midnight when I posted but that's no excuse... I thought you were referring to mixing acrylic with enamel paints as in tipping one jar to the next...
I did state I was cleaning up with water - seemed to work OK, so you are correct.
The bottles of AK I have had the labels partly dissolved which is why the instructions were not with the product.
I checked the AK website, searched each product and now understand that although AK paints are acrylic, their washes, filters and several other paints are "enamel" for use with acrylics. Being enamel means that wash up for this range is with thinners and NOT water.
I must apologize for my confusing post. Cheers, WilloW
