Another forum member asked me a while ago how I did some mud splattering effects on a build, and I made a short video explaining the process. I'm sure a lot of you already know how to use a toothpick (cocktail stick) to flick paint or other material onto a kit but, if not, this video, however poorly shot, might be helpful.

Pretty cool!

I would add "practice first"! The flicked pattern of course follows some "rules" and has a direction... Before you do it on your build, you want to find out for yourself which way the paint droplets fly, etc... My early efforts (about 35 y back on an old Tamiya sdkfz 223) had the mud spatters running down toward the "source" wheels on the build, rather than as mud flying up and out from same!

Thanks, Bob. You're definitely correct--the flicks have a pattern you have to learn by practicing. It's also best done with a stiff-bristled brush.
