hi all, as some of you know i am building a dio with a wirblewind included, i just wanted to know if i should purchase the academy wirblewind or the tamiya one, i am looking for detail, detail, and more detail between the kits, and alos acceosoreis, and more, i infact have already ordred the tamiya kit from my local hobby store, but i just wanted all of your advise on whether i have made the right decision, thnx

I have the Academy kit (#1333) it's an older kit and as appropriate a bit light on detail. Not bad and nothing you can add some of your own detail to. The instructions on the other hand are poor. Very bad on painting reference too,
Can't comment on the Tamiya side - it was my understanding that the two were 'knock offs' of each other. If that's the case go with the Tamiya's thier instructions are usually really good.

The Academy would be a knock off of the early Tamiya version, and these Academy kits had less tight molding. I believe Tamiya released an updated version, if so, that would be the Wirbelwind of choice.

i agree with the others - get the tamiya kit if possible! i just finished the academy kit and sadly its not too great.

have a look as some of the wirblewind kits by Tamiya also have indi links in them as there is a 2nd hand kit in my local shop which has them with this kit I dont think that they are the academy indi links either
