I've been watchin pictures from the events at Krimea, and I have a question:

What kind of Russian green is this?
I firstly thought that there was somekind of faulty setups with the camera, due to the light. But the trucks behind the BTR's seem's to be looking OK. Thn I thought, ware. But is it possible to be worn so much?
Any Ideas?

Hello Orestis, this looks exactly like the long gone Humbrol 114.
What it's official name is I have know idea, and I have not yet found a suitable replacement for this. There was only one other
paint close to it and that is also not available any more - Schreiner 66M Helloliv matt.

According to the captions, these BTR-80's belong to the Black Sea Fleet (pics taken near Simferopol):

Here's another one in Sevastopol :

The green appears to be darker...

Here's the caption for this picture taken on February 25 :

"Ukraine: APC deployed as Sevastopol preps against Maidan

A BTR-80 armoured personnel carrier was spotted rolling down Sevastopol's Lenina Street on Tuesday afternoon. The APC then reversed into the yard of the House of Moscow, located on Nakhimova Square. According to reports, the APC was deployed to help ensure the security of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's premises and facilities. The information hasn't been officially confirmed by the Black Sea Fleet."

Dam, those Russian's made an APC with 2 "wood stoves" as a power plant???? jk'n ..hence the 2 stove pipes in the back.

PS- I'm thinking that green color must be their "marine" color. Different from their Army green color.

These photos appear to be in the new standard olive-Drab -green that is being used. No more unit camo jobs, my understanding is they are looking at uniformity across the services.

The other photos may be an older shade of green and maybe sea water has an effect on the color?

It's still very close to the long gone Humbrol 114.

They are getting rid of the camouflage. As for why its a different color than the normal or more common Russian green, I can not say, but I would think that it could have possibly been the only option at the time when they repainted it??? And As for the red Numbers, they can be seen on many modern Russian equipment.
