Heya, Folks,

I'm building the Meng HiLux pickup with ZPU-1 and I had a few quick questions:

1. How is the weapon fired? It's not really clear in the instructions where the trigger is (and the figure supplied in the kit is in a relaxed pose having a cup of coffee)...

I would like to model a figure firing the weapon and of course want the gunner's hands and feet in the proper positions.

Does anyone have any pictures of the ZPU being fired by a gunner?

2. What mm is the gun? I'm wondering if a U.S. Minigun ammo can could hold ammo for the ZPU-1?

3. Approximately how much does the ZPU-1 weigh?

The ZPU is 14.5mm, so rounds for a minigun aren't even close. According the Wikipedia the ZPU with wheeled carriage weight 910lbs. Here's a YouTube vid of a ZPU firing, appears the firing trigger is on the left side of the gun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4ou0OiTEzs

The Minigun ammo box was also used for 20mm and yes, you could certainly fit Soviet 14.5mm belts into it. The size of the 7.62mm Minigun round is irrelevant to that question - it is the width of the box that matters.

Thanks for the clarification, Robert --- I was hoping that would be the case... Now I can use some of the mingun cans in my stash!
