zimmeritt is an anti-magnetic mine coating applied to some german tanks in WWII. it is applied in various desings.. verticla lines horizontal lines. tile, waflle yadda yadda yadda..
if you want to put some on your tiger without putty just get some Cavalier resin zim.. very good stuff. i prefer resin zim or PE zim. easier to create damage and whatnot.
i believe mid-production tiger all had zim..

The earliest mid-prod Tigers did not have zimm, later mids and beyond got the zimm. Depends on what unit and vehicle you are building as to whteher or not the "mid" was sent before zimm or not; I've seen pics showing sPzAbt502 and 503 with some mids w/out zimm.

Most mid-production Tigers probably had zimmerit.. But the great thing about the Germans was that almost NOTHING was standard.. So, most likely, there were mids that did not have zimm.... Just like not all Panther As/Jagdpanthers had zimmerit either..
Good luck and happy modeling..

Hi, I would go along with Pnzr-Cmdr here. If you decide to go with the Zimm. just pick up a pack of it from Cavalier or Atak Great stuff, and it sure takes the headache out of the putty thing, as least it does to me. Makes a difficult and time-consuming job real easy.
Take care, sgirty

I was just looking at my Kursk Photobook from RZM Imports last night, and they have a close up of a Tiger (not sure if it is early or late) that clearly doesn't have Zimmerit on it. It belonged to SS Totenkopf.

If it's Kursk and Totenkopf, I am quite sure it's an early.

I thought some one on here told me that the early batch of Mid. Pros didn't have zimm. I could be wrong.
If you do want to zimm, I used milliput putty and a pair of pliers. Just mix the putty, put it on, and then smooth it down. Next take the teeth of the pliers and and make indentations on the wet putty. Let it dry and our done.
It actually was pretty easy and kinda fun.
