Howdy folks, I started with a new building project the Vickers Utility Tractor. But before I start to actually build the tractor i still need the exact dimensions. I read on a forum that in one of the Tankette magazines there was a nice article on the Vickers Tractor, Vol 17#5. I already looked in the Tankette back issues, but it is not available any more.
Does any of you guy's have that magazine? If so is it possible to get some pictures of the dimensions. The only model I found until now is the 1/56 model in the Bolt Action range.
This is what I wanna scratch build.

Thanks for the help folks.

Hi David,

What a cute little machine! (Its main form of protection presumably being how the enemy would be disabled by fits of laughter?...) Still, looks like a cracking project!

You could try emailing Chris Lloyd-Staples, our Info Officer, with a request for a copy of those plans - I'm assuming we have at least one copy tucked away somewhere at MAFVA HQ. He can be reached at: [email protected]

Hope this helps!

Hi Dave,

I've only picked up your request for info today, real life gets in the way of the hobby sometimes...

I've checked my stock of Tankette back issues, and do not have a copy of Vol 17/5.

It may be that Gary Williams has one, as he occasionally obtains spares, and these do not always appear on the website listing. Unfortunately Gary has been in hospital and would not be able to tell us.

However, I could scan my copy for you if you would like. Even though the drawing is 1/76th , it would help you visualise the model. The late John Baumann put together a great article, and even though it is now some 32 years old, I believe it still stands as a useful resource.

Send me your e-mail address & I will scan it for you.
My address is [email protected]

Hi folks,

Does anyone have bought model from Azimut productions? I ordered the Vickers Utility tractor 2 weeks ago, but no response since then. I hope i still get it, then I can finally start my build.

And again I'm 1 step closer in getting all the much needed info so I can start making the model.
Since 3 weeks I'm a volunteer at the Tank Museum in Brussels/Bastogne and in Bastogne there is a Carden Loyd which I can mesure up and get all the detailed pictures. Can't wait to start ... To be continued ...

Hi folks,

This project is frozen for the moment.
It is very hard to find a model to work from.
For now I'm focusing on making a 1/6 scale Bren Gun Carrier.
The hull wil be printed on a 3D printer so it is strong enough to make it radio controled.
I also bought a 3D printer so I'm able to print the missing parts myself.

I'll open an other topic the the Bren Gun Carrier build with picts and comment once i got the hull printed.

c ya

Hi Dave,
Interested that you are at the museum(s), I visited Brussels some years ago and had trouble getting access to some areas, the "guards" didn't seem to be too friendly. I was after some details of their Vickers Tankette as I believe it has the same engine (Meadows) as the Vickers Light Tanks. Graham Sellar (Resicast) and I are planning a visit to Bastogne some time in the New Year, possibly August.

Hi "again",
Missed your post re the bren.
Which version are you planning.....I have masses on the carriers as I supplied some of the info and pre-production reviews of the Bronco carrier MkI.
I have manuals and books as it was along term project of mine to convert the Tamiya kit into models ranging from those of the 1930's, Mk's I to III, Canadian Windsor, US T16, and Australian LPC...
If I can be of help pm me, georgemoore(insert 66)at hotmail.co.uk

I love to see 1/6 projects, especially obscure subjects like this!

Also, please keep us updated on your work on the Bren Carrier, it is one of the vehicles I would love to add to my 1/6 collection.

I have the offending issue if you are still looking.

Email me at robertl AT bloomsburywealth.co.uk if you're still stuck.

You know the plans are 1/76, right?
