What distributor produces a M1A1 Abrams that includes a detailed engine compartment?

None of the various Abrams kits on the market include an actual engine. The closest is the Italeri M1A2 that includes a removeable back deck and ficticious engine bay walls (just flat slabs of plastic in the wrong spots). Kirin did make an M1A1 engine that was designed for the DML M1A1/A2 kits. Legends and a few others sell aftermarket engine sets.

Hey Lion
I don't believe any of the M1 kits out there have an engine bay. Thats the bad news, the good new is there are a few aftermarket ones out there plus there is some very good reference photo available as well. I'm not sure of the issue, I know it was some time in the past year that Fine Scale mag had a write up on doing an engine bay for a Abrams with some decent photos. I know its not much but I hope it helps.

P.S. I have the issue of Fine Scale, if you are interested pm me with an address and I 'll get it to you.

No joy here either , but the Trumpter / Hobby Craft engine grill doors are molded in two pieces . So if you are doing a M1A1 with the pack pulled this would be the way to go .
By the way here is a link to some reff. pics of the Abrams power plant

Lionhart,
Check out my article in the Armor Features Section, "Building a NTC M1A1". I used the Legand Engine compartment and engine. I also used the Dragon Hull and the engine grils from the Trumpeter kit.
I've looked every where for the past few years for the Kirin engine and I can never find it. The only one I know of available is the Legen kit.
