Some more re-releases are coming from Italeri, including some paratrooper, a jeep, motorcycles, and an OP.

Is this some sort of April's fool joke? Those figs already sucked when they were all new.

Man are they dredging up old stuff, I built the paratroops back in '79... About the only thing that would get me to consider buying any of these would be the trench knives with brass knuckles in the paratroops kit, and the price would have to be really good.

Yeah,
I don't know how much more milage they think they can pull from these sets.
There are a few items in the para set that are still viable though. Yes,the trench knife and also the grenades are very very nice. I just used some.

Yeah, but there are 3 better jeeps on the market - Tamiya, Dragon, and Bronco.

Yes, there has been a freaking revolution in modeler technology, both in the kits & figures available, as well as the accessories, paints, powders, etc. We should never forget that.

But thank God for places like Armorama or PMSS that can alert a consumer to what they are getting (or in this case, NOT getting).

I remember doing a number of these kits also. For the time they were good stuff though. The mohawks where you going to get guys with those cuts and the combat trousers have the tie downs also. They may not be the best kit out there but they still offer something you can't get anywhere else. I would also say it depends on the price point as to how useful they can be you can always get the stretcher parts and reassign them and use this jeep as a wreck or something! I still have body parts of figures that are likely 20+ years old you never know when you may need an arm or a leg

So long as they don't Charge an arm & a leg for these oldies

I remember scratching the ambulance jeep bits with my grandpa from a (german) Model-Fan magazine 35 years ago....

The re-release of the Observation Post is nice but why in hell they re-release these old Figures? Every Dragon set is much better in Detail and scale. The Jeep and motorcycles are nice too. There are better ones aviable from Tamyia for example but no M.A.S.H. Jeep i think. So take an better detailed Jeep from Tamiya with the ambulance kit from Italeri. Now the re-release of the WC54 Dodge Ambulance Car is missing.

Curiously enough, they haven't announced a re-reléase of their Workshop and weapons and equipment sets? Now, these are probably the most useful and impressive sets they ever did.

Frankly, Italeri have a good record in 'going where others didn't go before' unfortunately, for them, other companies have moved on and left Italeri wallowing in a comercial nostalgia which is of little use in today's market...

Can I request two categories for News on Armorama?

1) NEWS - where a manufacturer has put a modicum of thought/work int NEW poducts.

2) ESCAPEES - covering 99.99% of the anouncements from Tamiya and Italeri?

Although I agree with most of the comments about the re release of these old kits, especially the quality of the figures, which by todays standards are terrible I still think there is a place in the market for them so long as the price is right. My 9 year old son can't afford to go out and spend a small fortune on the latest Dragon kit, but lets face it, he still gets as much fun out of building and painting something that costs half the price and he's not as bothered about the accuracy and quality as I and most other adult modellers. I for one would rather he spent his small amount of pocket money on being creative than on Xbox games!

Yeah, I agree Rob....exactly right, my son is the same..I guess us older blokes are too spoilt now and have high standards as a result. But yes they are great little kits for the little tackers..!!

While I agree whole-heartedly with the comments of the two comments above, the reality is that Italeri (like Tamiya) are putting Premium prices on these ridiculous re-re-re-re-releases. Frankly, it's a lot cheaper getting some of the Masterbox or MiniArt sets for kids to cut their teeth on. They're not particularly complex and there's a lot more for kids to choose from.

They reissue old outdated kits or figures that nobody wants and by the other hand they hide models as, i.e., the Dodge ambulance. It is obviously they did not learned with their M24 Chaffee. The hide it for years, until Bronco launched its own (a very much better quality kit), now, Italeri´s one no one wants it even as a gift!
