I have Dragon's 1:35 Pz.IV E Vorpanzer and am wondering how difficult it would be to turn it into an accurate "E"? Can I just leave off the spaced armor and use an etch set meant for the "E" version?

Terry Ashley's look at the kit says you can do a straight E. You'll just have to make sure all the extra armour for the "vor" stays off.

And just found this thread http://ipms.us/forums/174551&page=1&ord=1

Kimmo: Much thanks. This is what I thought. Now, I wish I had not already ordered the etch for the vorpanzer! Guess I'll just resign it to my spares box.

You might not have to get an E set, check the sets to see if there's anything missing or something you really need. I'd bet that the only difference between an E and Vor set would be the additional armour stuff.

The Voyager set is quite sparse and has several pieces that are for the Vorpanzer, only. I'm looking at the Eduard set, but it does not cover much.

If the kit comes with the same etch as the original E boxing, the only thing that you might need is some clamps. The basic Dragon stuff will get you most of the way there.

Truth be told, I have built this kit before. I just forgot how much media is in the box. I already have Griffon clamps, for the tools and Aber wing nuts.

Great, more stuff to read and then completely forget about until the next project is 90% done

Thats what vorpanzer is .... spaced armor or uparmored. There are no other differences. Its still a plain ausf. E.

Looking at photos of the E in Africa and I noticed none of them show exhaust covers. I'm lead to believe that the E in the DAK did not have these. I thought it was a common mod throughout the IIIs and IVs.
