Hi Everyone. Looking for Sherman periscope guards. Found that they are available from NewTigerModels and Shapeways. Has anyone have any comparisons between the two ? Thank you for your comments and/or suggestions.

I bought mine from Shapeways and was very satisfied with them. They're probably less prone to breaking than the resin ones from TMD.

I have the Shapeways guards too, and they're superb. The best I've worked with. The only downside for me is that they ship by UPS and that incurred brokerage fees when crossing the border into Canada.
Cheers,

Have used NewTMD (Tiger
Models), Shapeways, and Schumo.
Shapeways is a clear winner IMHO.
Hope that assists.

Thanks again. I would love to see pictures of them installed on your model(s). My concern is the wire seems to be too thick and out of scale. Thanks.

Hi Thanh,
I have tried moulded versions of the guards, but I still find them to be slightly too thick. Try scratch-building them with 0.3mm rod, its not as hard as it might seem (just a little fiddly). I did it on my Sherman (using the etched parts in the kit as guides), and it was not too difficult (pic below).
Cheers,
Sven
