Does anyone know the right paint colours for the NVA Armour in East Germany? 1980's era. It's a new subject to me. I have an old Dragon BMP 2 I want to paint up as East German.

Your thoughts?
Cheers

Tom
if you use the search function of the site and type Marian, you'll find a lot of NVA models built by this member who gives his recipe for the Dark Green used in the NVA.

Hello

The green you can have on the blackboard Ral-seeking, it may be slightly lighter or darker hir times the number Ral 2425 olive green-dull.

However, the kit because of möchtst you use does not match the NVA überei because he has a additional armor and the two rear gaps are not paralel.

I imagine even milder one if I have found it

Tom,

Here is a link (in German) that contains some information in the NVA's three color scheme that was introduced in the late 80's - 1989 I believe.

http://www.panzerbaer.de/colours/a_relaunch/nva_verzerr.htm

Also, Steve Zaloga has some words on the subject in the New Vanguard T-54/55 from Osprey. "The East German NVA had its own camouflage patterns and paint colors which made them distinctive within the Warsaw Pact. Instead of the usual dark olive green common throughout most of the Warsaw Pact armies, the NVA used a gray-green that was somewhat lighter in color. It is officially called Olivgrun 2425 and matches the current Federal German RAL6003. In the late 1980s, the NVA began to adopt a new three-color camouflage scheme with bands of Schwarzgrau 2402 (black-gray) and Dammergrau (medium-gray) over the usual green color."

RAL6003 is available from several hobby paint manufacturers, so there's a start.
