I noticed that in the ICM German Firemen figure set that the fire hydrant and canister (I assume a portable fire extinguisher) are both in green. In the present-day USA, fire hydrants are painted in different colors as part of a coding system, but what's the story here?

Based on the fact that ICM's post-war fire truck kit (the red one (at least according to the kit description)) the dark green was a color choice implemented by the Nazis.
Unaware if they had a color coordinated system; wasn't even aware that's why they were different colors here, guess I learned something.

I think green was the German civilian equivalent color for red in N. America, for fire fighting equipment.

In 1938, the German Feuerwehr became the Feuerschutzpolizei, subordinated to the German Police structure. Firemen received green Police uniforms and from 1940 to 1945 all the vehicles were painted green (like Police vehicles). Maybe the fire hydrants were paintede green then as well ?

Actually, I meant civilian fire extinguishers, but maybe everything that is red here, was green there.
