Hi Simon,

Thanks for creating a complete chaos now!
No, seriously.
I thought to be building a rather well researched type of QLR. Now I start doubting about the cabin roof. Luckely, I haven't glued the one with the opening so not too much worries on that.
And I hadn't seen the missing window covers yet!
Also, I don't have the Dorchester (though you have given me a reason to purchase one if not the amount of unbuild models would only increase!) therefore I must try to scratch build one. The folded chairs are not too much of a challenge, I guess.
Still, the truck is fun to build, also after now having quite some issues to puzzle about.

Almost finished the QLR. I must admit I changed some of the radios and made 4 chairs from wire and tissue paper.
Here is my QLB from the old Italeri Portee and a Resicast cab ( hopefully ).

Hi Kevin,
What an impressive tractor!
Scratchbuild?
What I noticed that the wall of the manhole in the IBG roof seems to be rather thick. I will thin mine carefully, since I like the possibility to have a better look into the cabin.
Are you going to use the AFV or Bronco 40 mm Bofors as a gun?

I must admit, I like the Bedford's looks! Don't ask why.............
That is why I am certainly going to do the QLB as well.
Does anyone know which version of the Bofors gun would be the best to tow? Yes, the UK, but Bronco or AFV?
Just wondering if the QLB was also used by other allied troops like the Canadians or South Africans?

Those Bedfords are neat kits! I've been working on a QLT (mostly a few months ago - it's stalled at the mo), and was meaning to start a blog on it. I worked out a nifty trick for the cab...

Hi Paul,

Yes it is mostly scratchbuilt. The chassis is from the Italeri Portee kit. The cab is from Resicast but the rest of the bodywork is scratchbuilt. It is not perfect but I was quite pleased with the end result. I am waiting for the IBG QLB to come out to compare it to. I have 3 of the Bronco Bofors, 2 Canadian 1 British. I also used the Itaeri Bofors on a Crusader hull but I think the barrel needs replacing and the sights need replacing too. But there are plenty of spares from the Bronco kits.

I have the Plus Model Mk III QLR conversion kit. It is just a resin cab with interior but the house bodywork is just the resin walls and roof no interior. With a bit of work it too turned out well.

As to Canadian and South African use I think that the South Africans may have used the QLB but I am not sure about the Canadians. I am not sure if they had a Ford or Chevy equivalent. Someone may be able to confirm.

By the way do you know how to display the photos within the post?

cheers

Hi Al,

Thanks. The QLB was mostly scratch. The chassis wheels etc were from the Italeri Portee the cab from Resicast the rest was scratch from drawings. Not perfect but I was reasonably pleased with the end result. I am just waiting for the IBG QLB to come out so I have something to compare it against.
With a little bit of work the QLR turned out not too bad either.
By the way do you know how to get the images into the post rathe than just the short cut?

cheers

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your info. Highly appreciated.
Since I am a complete undereducated guy on computer issues I have struggled to get. my pictures posted here. So, we have to wait for help from specialistes here, I guess.
I hope Part of Poland or Legend will come with update sets for the Bedford series. A set of chairs for the QLR would be nice, to start with.
I am now searching the web for simple chairs to be placed behind the desks.
For the QL's I already found out that the UK driver from the MiniArt serie fits.

Hi,

Yes hopefully someone will come to the rescue soon with drivers and perhaps even radio operators, seats etc.

I must admit I did cheat a bit with the seats as I made mine from copper wire. I just started in one corner and kept bending small "squares" until I ended up with a tubular chair. See attached. Then just used a couple of pieces of tissue to make the seat and back.

As to posting pictures / images into the post hopefully someone will come to my rescue as to how to do it. In the meantime see attached. I hope it helps.

Good news!
Toro Models now offers two sets of tyres: Firestone and Dunlop.
So, it seems that IBG attracted some attention. Let's hope for more.
Has anybody already seen the new gun tractor on the shelfs?

Can anybody confirm that these antenna mountings would be the ones used on the QLR?

RE35-219 No19 British Antenna set for AFV 6,99 EUR

These are the antennas from Panzerart.

Thanks in advance,

P.
