As part of my next project I would like to build the 1/35th scale SdKfz 222 operating in the desert campaign of WWII.
What kit options do I have?
From best to worst for detail & excellence of kit.
What about aftermarket stowage sets & update sets, PE & resin wheel options?
Thanks for your help, as always.
Joe.

Personally I like Hobbyboss Sdkfz.222, I've built one with DAK markings, also will use Legend stowage set-it's nice. Tristar 222 also is good.
Cheers!

Here's a list of what's available, kits & AM parts
Sd.Kfz 222
Best kit Tamyia, but Tristar might the best detailed, HobbyBoss is also a very nice option.

Not meaning to be aggressive, but what is your reason for giving an ancient kit like the Tamiya the nod over the other two?

Gives quite a bit of information about the kits and accessories available.

Tamiya 222 is no way better than recent Hobbyboss and Tristar ones. I've built the Hobbyboss 222 and is very good with detailed interior and chassis, nice photoetch. Only 20mm Flak/KwK replaced with metal barrel, pretty OOB. I suppose Tristar is just as good.
Just my 2 cents,
Regards!

Hi Venelin,
Thanks for your message.
I've been doing a little research on the various kits available, reading some of the reviews that are out there & I'm beginning to feel that the Hobbyboss kit is the way to go.
I like the fact that you get a fully detailed interior & engine as I would like to build the model with everything open.
However, I understand that the Hobbyboss kit depicts the later version of this vehicle & not the version that was used in the North African campaign by the DAK.
So, how easy would it be to backdate this later version to the earlier Ausf.B?
Joe.

I agree, please give your reasons.
I have all three, well actually no..... I sold the Tamiya kit on Ebay because the Tristar and Hobbyboss are much better detailed.
