Hello All:

I am embarking on a project of a 3rd ID M4A3E8 in Korea set in early 1951. For a few days I have been searching on the net for information on tank crews. I just bought the Tasca kit and I want to show the crew open hatch.

I plan on using the DML tank riders - if I can scrounge them up from some source.

Anyway, what crew figures can I use to depict US tank crewmen at this stage of the war? I see them wearing either the WWII infantry helmet or tanker helmet in photos, but I really can't tell what uniforms they are wearing.

Hi Robert,

a 3rdID M4A3E8 is one of my favorites since I saw a real "Easy Eight" at 3rdID museum. For that specific period, I would use M43 uniforms with parkas and winter fur caps. Unfortunatly these uniforms are very rare in modelling. I can only remember about an old Verlinden figur that wears the winter cap.

Thanks guys. I think I will use the Dragon Advance on the Rhine figures for the infantry. And the Dragon tank riding figures if I can find them. I will have to cobble some stuff together to figure out the crew though. Maybe not too hard since I only have to worry about the chest area.

I think that I might have a set of the tank riders sitting in the stash if it will help you out. I'll check today when I'm in the workshop.

John, thanks. Let me know what you would want for it. I am traveling this weekend and going to a different hobby shop to check out their supply. Maybe I will get lucky.

I'm always up for a little horse trading, make me an offer if you still are needing the figures.
