Hi all.
Moro and more I got interested in that legendary T-55.
After reading 'Der Turm', where one of the maincharacters becomes a tankcommander, I decided to build one. More details on the story later on during the build.
So I bought me a cheap kit from Trumpeter, some conversion sets, dug in deep on The Net and found some good advice over here.
So here are some results. Using ABER - CMK - Verlinden - Jadar to upgrade the Trumpeter kit.
Tank gets a ful interior, except for the motorcompartiment.
Turret inside is near to get finished. A lot of sanding and scraping was needed to get it all in place.
Works on the hull and wheels just started. Driverseat & office are also ready.
Some pictures.
The gun, turret and rest of the interior. All resin and PE conversion from CMK. Nerve wrecking and some scratching is needed. Very hard resin, but nice in detail.
PE on the turret comes from Verlinden.
WIP on the hull. The kit needs a lot of improvement, but that fun to do.
The works so far
I'm still looking for new photomaterial and everytime I discover some new details. Main thing however, I'm looking for, is the escape tower, when the tank makes a full dive.
So please feel free to make any constructive comments you want.
There will be more...
Cheers,
RJ

It's a very good start so far, well let's say more than a simple start indeed. It's a shame to hide this gun with the turret top part.
Can't help for your question but I wish you good luck.

Thanks Olivier,
It's a shame indeed that such nice detail dissappears under the turret, but I know it's there so to speak.
It's been a long time I did a tank. But using the internet, knowledge of members of this forum it's a real different approach to build anything in modeling. I like that very much.
Cheers,
RJ

Very nice work!
Maybe you had to start with Tamiya hull, considered big dimension issue of Trumpeter kit,but will be a great model in any case.

Hi.
It is certainly recommended to do that. But with a little extra work it fits also on the Trump kit.

RJ
