Thank you. I am a bit disappointed with Black dog figures. The fitting is not right and you have to do some modifying.

You might want to move the rear seat over to the other side as well mate.

Looking good so far. I built this kit with legend extras about a year ago, it was my first Hobbyboss kit and was very impressed with it, especially for under 20 quid! Some other companies would be knocking these out for the best part of £40 a time. I Painted mine in Nato Green as used by Patrols Platoon, 3 Para, in Helmand 2006. Maybe I'll do another in Desert colour some time, probably do the Milan version. looking forward to seeing yours finished.

Nice looking WMIK. It should look good when it's finished
Some things to consider if you build another one.
1) The rear seat needs to be on the other side of the floor.
2) The 'WMIK' frame needs to be about 4-5mm lower as it sits far too high. The geometry is also wrong as the mg ring mount sits too far back.
3) Neither the Legends nor the Black Dog details sets are entirely accurate - they portray a mix of early and later features.
4) The suspension needs to be 'dropped' by about 2mm as the vehicle looks like it's on tip toe (remove the top ring off each of the coil springs)
5) The wheel track is too wide - needs to be reduced by about 4mm in total.
This was my first WMIK - an early vehicle in Macedonia. I didn't modify the suspension or the wheel track.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/110741/thread/1313843953/WMIK This was a much later R-WMIK built using a range of Legends parts and scratchbuilt items. I did modify the suspension and wheel track on this model and I think it looks a lot better for it.

Very nice build John. Hope mine comes close to yours.
Here is where I am at. Vehicle practically finished. I have to work on the figures now. I am thinking of making a base for mine, but still have to think of the layout.
Sorry for the terrible lighting.

John, what color did you use for the desert paint job. I used tamiya XF-59 which I had read in several blogs that is the most accurate for british armour. I thought it was a bit dark and I lightened it with some oil filters and dry brushing with Vallejo 977 Desert Yellow. But still, I am not completely convinced, although on some pictures it does look pretty similar. Then again, the variation from picture to pictore is huge.

In case John is busy the bottle is used to house cylume light sticks for night ops ..
Open the cap pop the cylume in and you have a light marker...

I started with Tamiya XF-60 (Dark Yellow), but I lightened it slightly with XF-57 (Buff). Once the base coat was dry it hten received a whole series of washes (for the darker areas) and drybrushing layers with prgessively lighter colours (Buff and Deck Tan) until I got a colour that I felt was about right.
I've used XF-59 on an Airfix Jackal but felt it was a bit too 'orange'. For a recent Humvee (OK, so it's US vehicle) I used Buff as the base colour and that looked quite good.
As Terry said, the water bottle on the aerial is a night recognition device - you place an Infra Red chem-lite into the bottle. A simple but effective solution.

John
