Quick question ..I know nothing about soviet practices , so I was wondering if the extra fuel tanks were always kept on the same tank or were they removed, filled and put back on different vehicles .. I am painting a JSU in a whitewashed scheme but wondering if I can leave one completely green to change things up. or would a badly damage tank be changed for a new one or would it just be removed?

Hi Rick;
All of the cases you suggest could happen, as the fuel drums could be removed and replaced with ease if badly damaged. As long as the fuel drums were not Punctured they would be kept, when Heavy contact was expected the drums would be removed. Fuel drums were sometime stenciled with ONACIO or TOPLIVO on the drum.
CHEERS; MIKE.
