In spite of many efforts to find one during the past two years, I was not able fo find the former version (1976) of the manual with camouflage patterns. Though I have a full digital copy of the (1992?) version with 3-color nato schemes, I'd love to obtain a copy with the old four color MERDC schemes.

Would anyone know how/where I can find a copy (paper or digital) of that ?

Thanks,

I have the training circular TC 5-200 Camouflage Pattern Painting that gives directions on how to and reasons for pattern painting. It is dated 28 August 1975. It shows how to remove the white star, white markings and add the black markings. There is a color palette that shows the official colors to be used and the National Stock Numbers (NSN) to get either 5 gallon or 1 gallon cans of the paint. The back cover has a stencil used to paint the small black star (3"). About the only thing this manual doesn't have is the actual patterns used in painting the vehicles, although there are some examples included. There's even a manhours chart to tell you how long it'll take for a particular type of vehicle. I had scanned this document into my hard drive for someone and may still have some of the files there if you're interested.

Also, take a look on the Panzer Baer website:

www.panzerbaer.de is in German, but on this link :

http://www.panzerbaer.de/colours/default.htm there are some MERDC types shown for different vehicles.

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Rob, Vince, Iwan...

I can only say this : Thanks !

I've been looking for this stuff all over the net... and only today I thought of asking at my Armorama friends. I should be ashamed I did not think of this earlier.

I've now found all I could possibly have hoped for.

Jan,

Glad to be of service. If you need manuals, I have some cd's about armor stuff, not sure what's in them but if you give me a FM nr. I'll try.

Cheers,

Behind the power curve again!!

Lance Mertz is the moderator for Military Modeling 2 (shameless plug) and in their files area there is a copy of TC 5200. OK, you do have to a member of the group to access the files, there was a major spam problem in the old group and Lance was brave enough to start a new group.

Olive Drab has a edited version of TC 5-200 on line.

Here is copy of TB 43-0209 in pdf format at CUCV.NET. Be forewarned, it is a 31M file.

If all else fails, I have a copy of TB 43-0209 “Color, Marking, and Camouflage Painting of Military Vehicles, Construction Equipment and Materials Handling Equipment” dated OCTOBER 1976 and can copy the pattern you need.

Thanks for all that, Dave. I'll certainly find what I need with all these links. I'm sure other users will be happy with it, too.

I did notice that the online TB had color chart in black and white. My hard copy TC has this page in color so you can see the colors.
