Hi all,
Having spent hours searching the web to find which Hydraulic Excavators are in use with the IDF and only finding
1. Caterpillar 330D
I was hoping someone may enlighten the list further, as the attached photos are definately not Cat 330D's.
The first photo is unusual for a Cat - as the exhaust is on the left, and in the second photo the counter-weight does'nt look to be a Cat item (aside from the extended cab !).
Many thanks for looking and for any responses.

Here's another view of the first excavator in your post :
Looks like it's a Caterpillar indeed

Cheers for the link and photo's but alas I've already been through all their postings regarding Hydraulic Excavators.
Have just been down to the local Caterpillar agents and the mechanics ID'd the first photo (and the photo in Frenchys second post) as a Caterpillar 245B - due to the rear engine doors and counter-weight.
However there was much debate as to the second photo and as yet the jury is still in delibertion (I've offered a reward to the mechanics if they can ID the said excavator).
So, it appears that the IDF operate:
Caterpillar 330D's and
Caterpillar 245B's plus
one undecided Hydraulic Excavator.
I will advise if I learn anything more, but please feel free to add your thought's/knowledge to this subject.

Cheers for the photos and link, it appears we use the same sources for info gathering .
The third photo in Frenchy's first post has been ID'd as a Caterpillar 225B, so the list is now:
1. Caterpillar 330D
2. Caterpillar 245B
3. Caterpillar 225B
4. Unknown brand and model.
The Cat mechanics are still debating the unknown one due mainly to the fact the extended cab area hides some of the model reference guides and it is unusual in only having two track return rollers for a sizable excavator.
Will continue the reference hunt till the unknown is known.
Cheers.

all,
Just a quick bump to see if anyone may have any additional info on the types used IDF.
The Cat mechanics are still undecided as to one of the models used but all agree it's a Caterpillar product.
About to start my model for the IDF Campaign, unfortunately I will have to use a bit of "modellers licence" on a few detail aspects .
Cheers.
Edit. Sorry my first few photos seem to have wandered off, will repost when tracked down.

Quick update,
Just been advised the larger excavator is a Cat 349
So the list is now:
1. Caterpillar 330D
2. Caterpillar 245B
3. Caterpillar 225B
4. Caterpillar 349 (most likely D)
In various other photos (mostly showing police protection) there are civilian Caterpillar, Hitachi and Komatsu excavators.
Cheers.
