Just wondering if Duster crews in Vietnam put a dust cover over the spare barrels, stored in tandem on the left fender. If so, how would you go about making a cover in scale? I heard tissues and white glue work? What would you use to "tie" them down? Ship model rope?

I've looked online for an image of the dust covers but can't seem to find any. It makes sense, but I wanted to check first with the experts.

Thanks!

Hi Felix

I guess it's up to you

Sometimes only the ends of the barrels are covered :

Sometimes it's the whole barrels :

You can take a look here for some tips about the covers :

Thanks, H-P. Lots of good stuff there; really appreciate the pics as they will come in handy. Think I may just wrap the ends.

Appreciate the help.

all M42's I've seen had the barrels uncovered, but if they did in Vietnam they probably just used sand bags wrapped around both ends
