Hey everyone
I just got a whole lot of money for Christmas (everyone said they didn't know what models to get me...) so I've decided to use some of it to buy an airbrush. This will actually be my second-my first was some cheap Badger (I paid $25), but it can't do much more then paint large areas. I'm looking for something that can do large areas, as well as fine lines, probably a dual-action, internal mix with a price no more then around $110. Can anybody give me a recomendation, maybe what you use now, what you like about it, what you dislike etc.? Thanks for your help

I hear Iwatas are best but above above your price range
I got all your requirements satisfied by an Aztek 470
Do a forum search for an Aztek, like so:

I have an aztek and i think it is one of the best airbrushes. You can paint either large or small areas and do very thin lines

How 'bout a Badger Crescendo 175 set. It cost less than $100, internal mix, double action & you get a fine, medium & large tip. It also comes with paint bottles & an air hose.

That Badger is worth a second look
I still have my old Badger and I think theyre tough as nails.
I like the Aztek's design and EZ tip changeout, but my old Badger is still going...

I recently got an Iwata Eclipse CS from bearair.com for $89. It has taken a little getting used to, but today I had some great spray sessions and am very happy with it. I also have an old Badger 350 which I use for the big areas - I love it and it was cheap, but doesn't do the fine lines like the Iwata.

Thanks guys!
firemann-I'm still gonna keep the Badger! I'm looking for something though that will do thinner lines, etc.
I've read things about both the Azteks and Iwatas, so I think that I'm gonna look into both.
Thanks for your help

Happy too
I like my Aztek, but it takes some getting used to
funky hoses compared to the Badger,
I assume the Iwata also uses a straightforward hose to the compressor as well
The Aztek one seems a little proprietary

Hi Sidewinder05
I would have to say that you will be hard pressed to find an AB that does everything well. In my experience I have found that it is better to buy a brush that does each application well. You now own a AB that is good for doing large area's. So buy the best AB that you can afford to do your fine lines and camo job's. Then maybe later you can think of replacing your older AB with a better all-round one.
Good Luck on your decision.

I got an evolution airbrush for christmas, for much the same thing .... fine lines and camo ... hopefully can be used on figures as well. But my old brush ........ which has served me faithfully for the last 2 years is a badger copy from a local hardware store ...... and I will still use it for bigger areas etc. It works perfectly for that, and I am comfartable when useing it.
So between the two Im hoping for some better results.
Evolution airbrushes are very popular here in sweden and i see faust has one as well. Are these common in the states or is it just a Euro thing? I think they are a german brand!

Here is a great place to purchase airbrushes if you make a choice. I have an aztek 430 and I love it.

I have an Aztek 470, which has been my brush for a little over a year now. For Christmas I got an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS...WOW!!!! Fine lines, economy with paint, control, etc are amazing. I have fallen in love with the new brush. It is a bit heavier than the Aztek, but to me it feels a little more balanced. I have also found it to be much more controllable than my faithful Aztek was, and, believe it or not, cleanup is even quicker with the Iwata than the Aztek. While I would reccomend both airbrushes, if you are looking for more control, go with the Iwata.
