Something interesting out of Eduard has a Tiger II Ausf.B in 1/35 scale as part of the ProfiPack editions.

Is that single fret of mesh the extent of the PE included with this kit? Not much "profi" stuff to brag about.

That's pretty pathetic coming from Eduard, considering they use the Academy kit. Unless it's a LOT cheaper than Dragon, I'd rather have the Dragon kit. (I'm not always bashing Dragon!)

I've seen the DML KT kits on sale for $40-$45 online. Academy 13229 goes for around the same price. Considering that Eduard is selling this "Profipack" for $63.71 USD, even a stupid mook like me would think that they would throw in the King Tiger last production 1/35 PE Set No. 36260, which sells for $26.91 USD, into the deal. The kit, and the aforementioned PE set, would total up to about the same (actually, a couple of bucks more) as the Profipack.

Then, there's the lameasstic set of markings. Two of the three vehicles (Kassel OctoKat and the one from Rengershausen) didn't have any. No friggin' deal there, either. At least throw in an autographed 8x10 B&W glossy of the guy at the Henschel plant who painted the octoflage donut rings on the Kassel Kat.

I like the box-top option. Is the brown color all primer?

Could be. According to Tomas Chory, the hue Rotbraun RAL 8013 replaced Rotbraun RAL 8012 in the Genormte Anstriche published sometime between Spring 1942 and 1943 because it already contains colors destined for units in Africa (RAL 8020 and 7027) specified in March 1942. RAL 8012 isn't listed any longer. In photos of KT's with hard edged camo, you can see that the area where the expected Rotbraun RAL 8017 would be is a lot lighter. That is what RAL 8013 looks like. It's a lighter, creamier, less red brown.

The muzzle flash isn't included in this pack. The PE set for that is sold separately.

To me, it looks just like they reboxed the Academy kit and added absolutely nothing extra. If memory serves me, the Academy kit comes with PE grills like this. The only difference I see is they include decals for a third option, while the Academy just has the first two.

Thanks Joseph...I have been slowly working on the Dragon Last KT and really like this scheme.

I just downloaded the instructions for this kit, and there is nothing special added, just an ordinary kit without any extra PE/resin/zimm/figures/stowage.....just the acadamy PE and some extra decals

In Germany the Academy kit can be found around 30 euros on eBay, and the Eduard kit around 40 euros or more : it's a no brainer.

Now if Eduard had added a lot more PE, more decals, possibly a turned barrel and some resin bits or maskings for the markings they could have had an attractive package at 50 euros or so. They do that for some aircraft kits, can't understand their marketing on that one. I expect to see the kit heavily discounted in a year or two.

Cheers,

Christophe

As I wrote in a previous reply, I've seen it available for $40-$45 USD at some online vendors. Here's one for $45.18 USD w/Free Shipping.

Eduard should rename this "Profit Pack" since they are not shy about the MSRP

Thanks for this .

I asked about this one a bit back -- http://armorama.com/forums/222396&page=1

Definitely overpriced IMO ,, but I learned a lot about the Academy / Eduard connection

I built the Academy Tiger II last year. The only difference I see is the decals - there are no camo decals for the two figures that came with the original. I think this is the same PE that is in the original.
