Hi Gang,
I just downloaded some images of the M1068 A3 SICPS from the new established EAS unit. I noticed that the vehicles have a weld seam between the original hull and the new top. Are these vehicles rebuilds from older M113 hulls?

Yes, M1068s are the latest version of armored command post carrier which was previous;y called an M577. The M1068 is rebuilt from earlier M577s, which were built from M113 hulls with the upper section added. The weld seam is more visible on some vehicles than others depending on how well it was ground down during the manufaturing.

Just to clarify - later production M577s never had any weld seams on sides, as they were manufactured specifically as this version, not by modification of M113 hulls, and had one piece side armor.
The one below is converted from the later production M577 and has one piece sides:

Anyone knows other modifications that the new APU? According to the pics on PrimePortal it look like an "easy" conversion.
