Hi guys!
I've got a tinny tiger by mail from a good friend witch i met here on Armorama! Ain't that great!?

The dragon kit is just superb (# 7251) The zimmerit molding is quite impressive even if it is missing from the front glacis.
The PE fret is more than enough for the size of this build, it got mesh, handles, exhaust armor and tool clamps. Not to forget enough twisted metal for the two tow cables The DS tracks are decent, the only thing that I would have liked is a metal barrel but, you can't have it all ootb!

Herre is some progres pics, this thing took me a couple of hours to put together on a couple of days. Good weather preventing me from being at the bench!

Using a home made micro chisel and some milliput I've added the zimm on the front glacis. Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I think I have seen some pics where there was none on there...

It is a little thick but since it was my first tackling of the zimm...Looks ok IMO.

This particular model will be painted to the colors of the 2. Kompanie abt510. As seen on the eastern front in 1944( 3 tone camo)
For the base coat I have used xf-60 dark yellow

For my first braille scale kit this one is very fun and surprisingly well detailed, it just makes me want to build the 1/35 dragon kit with zimm

Great looking Tiger Phil! Nothing really to add in terms of Cc as you've pretty much nailed it I think

cheers
Brent

ps after thought, don't blacken the muzzle brake more than a light tinting. They were pretty much self cleaning due to the blast and if anything they often showed slighty worn edges much more than powder residue.

I tend to use this pic as a good ref for muzzle wear and discolouration ...

Phillippe. great looking build and painting! Just caught this today and went through the thread. I think the Dragon kit is great for the price and what you get in the box. I like the camo, nicely done for such a small 3D canvas I've got an idea to do one of these kits with a T-34 facing off on the Steppes. Kudos on a great build so far!

@asmodeuss – Philippe,

Yes! Just caught sight of this tonight . . . looks excellent. I’m not sure but I think you’re missing both the antenna and it’s spare antenna case that would be mounted along the same edge that the antenna mast is located. All my modeling stuff is still packed away so I don’t have access to my reference books, else I’d scan you a picture of the missing antenna case. Still it sure is a pleaser. Keep up the excellent work.

Hi Gents!
I did ad the antenna and I also reworked the muzzle break. The only thing I am unsure of is the extra antenna...I can't seem to find the right picture with the right version....

Anyhoo I am sure that one of you will help me on that matter.

here is where I am now:

A little work on the base
I have used polymere grout (sandy) with lot of water to emulsify it.

Yesterday I've sprayed two coats of TS-46 light sand on the base to harden the polymer emulsion. I t was a spray can that I had for a couple of years. Still it worked like a charm!
This morning I fooled around with some pigments and Izosol. This is round one, have a look:

[/url]
base04 par asmodeuss, sur Flickr

When I'll be satisfied with the pigments I'll seal them with testor's dullcoat lacquer.
The raised area wil be covered with flock and other ground effects.

A little more work on the ground...sealed the pigments and applied some flock.I know static grass is way better but I need to resupply on dio materials. So meanwhile I use whatever is around the mancave.

base05 par asmodeuss, sur Flickr

With the right pigments and dirt or moss it will turn out ok I think.

@asmodeuss – Philippe,

The spare antenna case was located in the same area throughout the entire production run, the cap for the spare antenna case originally faced toward the rear of the vehicle but that was reversed on all later model tigers with the cap facing towards the front of the vehicle. The spare antenna case itself had two small square metal pads welded to both ends of the case and these where in turn used for welding the case to the top edge of the side armor plate. Initially the end of the case with the cap facing toward the rear of the vehicle was place even with the end of the side armor plate but this later changed and varied during the subsequent production run.

Hope these photographs will be of some use to you in placing the spare antenna case?

~ Eddy

P.S. Note the out of alignment and bend road wheels in the center picture. These vehicles where extremely heavy!

Hey Eddy, nice explanation of the case. Love those skewed wheels though, I can imagine the uproar if a model showed up with anything looking even remotely out of alignment, just goes to show anything's possible !!!!

cheers

The antenna case actually overhung the rear wall in the original Tigers. They turned it around when the S-mines were added.

Thanks a lot mate! Explication are clear and will be applied. I think a 0.5. rod will do for the case. Where did you get those images? They are clear and so crisp. Thanks again it solved my problem.

@ Brent
Many thanks for the good words. Indeed sometimes our plastic brothers can be ridgid when judging other modelers.....

@David
Thank you for the info but I must admit I do not comprehend the picture at all.
If you have other visual support I would gladly appreciate.

Thanks again guys. U/D as soon as I get back from the weekend.
