Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about building a WW2 Russian diorama, and so here's a thread that may help other people, not just me when planning and building their diorama. Anyone can add extra info to this thread if they wish.
ROADS
So, what condition were the Russian roads in the second world war?
well, in the countryside they were often dirt, and when winter came, they iced over, before turning into a muddy
boggy quagmire that stopped many vehicles and soldiers.
In the city, I believe that they were cobbled, and during winter they iced over and made a potentially dangerous (skating )ice hazard...
This is a very basic description of roads, but anyone can add to this thread with anything about the buildings, people and whatever else, such as vehicles, etc along with pictures if they wish.
Thanks, Nathan.

One of my favorite diversions is YouTube; just type in your search and watch as time slips away! The downside is: This usually has the effect of distracting me from getting any of my projects done!
Here's one of my favorite bookmarks. This episode often mentions Russian road conditions during WWII:
Battlefield S4/E6 - The Siege of Leningrad.

Some rural parts of the Soviet Union looked little different than they did for centuries.
It took a while for the "Workers' Paradise" to seep into many places.
