MM was a huge inspiration to us older modelers, 40 years later and I recall/use techniques I learned from it and still makes me smile. I remember a woman contributor that did mostly fugures/napoleanics, she was great and though I still suck at figures I try my hardest to use the tips she suggested.

Beverly Gordon. Her builds and conversions inspired me to start doing Napoleonics back when I was in 8th Grade. Imagine a 14 year thinking he could do a Historex conversion!
Though considering that Beverly can also be a man's name, I was never positive of his/her gender.

Jeff
This was/is great to read thru! Thanks for reaching out for help, and generating such awesome, nostalgic responses. I remember an issue which had a street scene battle between US GI's and PzrGrndrs etc. Whoever created it somehow used smoke or something like cotton perhaps, and I remember there were lots of camera angles w/ close-ups etc!
That was def a WOW moment for me, mid - late 70's.
I probably ran out that moment and rode my bike down to the LHS to find more issues. This is why I have all those unbuilt early (read: ancient) Tamiya figure sets still in the stash. They're like less than $6 now, but back then they were "IT"! This lead to learning about Shep Paine, and early Historex Figure conversions by Ray Andersen if I'm right. Still have those books. Great stuff
Thanks for this
Cheers

Great point Stephen I forgot the name but at the time my 15 year old male brain pictured a gorgeous young lady. Either way Beverly was an inspiration.
