I am currently planning to build a small-scale BATUS diorama incorporating a Chieftain Mk.11. Would it be accurate to include a Ferret Range Safety vehicle (red top), or would these vehicles have been replaced by this time?

I was Range safety at BATUS and can confirm 100% the Ferret was still in use as a red top vehicle when the Chieftain Mk11 was in service at BATUS.

Many thanks for that information.
I am planning to convert the ancient Airfix kit of the Chieftain using Matador Models' 'Mk.11 Stillbrew Armour/TOGS' set ... that is assuming I can still get hold of the Airfix kit, as it is discontinued from the range. I have BW Models' 'Ferret Mk.2', which is a fairly decent white metal kit (no longer available, as Barry has ceased production of his entire range). On the subject of the Chieftain ... given that this was such an iconic tank, why do kit manufacturers seem to ignore it?

The Airfix Chieftain is still widely available on ebay and from second hand kit sellers.
I don't know why its such a neglected tank by model companies I hope someone will bring a new one out.
