Im painting up a model Tiger, and im trying to figure out wich layer of paint is on top, the red or yellow, I know that the red is most likely primer, so im trying to decide if its primer covered with some yellow paint, or if they would have covered the whole thing in yellow and then sprayed it with rotbraun,
here's a picture of the scheme im gonna try to do

This particular tank would have been finished in overall factory applied dark yellow when it was new and delivered to the German military.
The brown would have been applied in the field.
This version of the Tiger would have been produced quite some time before the advent of late war factory patterns and after the very early Tigers produced in Panzer gray.
HTH,

Remember it's easier to paint dark over light than vice versa.

Hi Jonas,
Very nice project. Hope to see work-in-progress pictures soonest !
Agree with Mike: On August 19th of 1944, OKH ordered that dark yellow (RAL 7028) was to be factory applied as the base colour with dark olive green (RAL 6003) and red brown (RAL 8017) for use in camouflage patterns.
This is the standard.
In your case, the Tiger was delivered in dark yellow, then red brown was applied in the field.

Must've been drunk, high, overdosing, falling down steps when drunk or any combination when s/he wrote this. Or they just don't understand the proper mechanics of the English language even though they are located in a mainly English speaking country.
Either way, good luck Jonas. I'm sure it'll come out looking fantastic.

Tao, the profile show the deck rounded aft part (gas lid?) covered with rotbraun. So, the deck are camouflaged too.

Hi Jonas, sorry, I didn't mentioned the top layer: yes, Alvaro is right as well. Top layer 100% sure same scheme: base dark yellow and camo red brown.
