Hi,
After a long time stopped, I decided start again with the Tamiya M-561 Gama Goat, assembling OOB without getting too inventing. But in doing some research, I noticed many flaws in the kit. That certainly would lose many nights of sleep.
So let’s go ...!!!
As always, I make the initial assembly utilizing white glue, to verify the possible failures that are corrected, the kit is simple done in approximately one day.
Detailing the winch...
Right now looking at the topic of Dave (Delta42), many ideas have emerged, did someone have a drawing with dimensions Detroit Motor 3:53…
Thank you all.

Sergio,
The motor I scratch built for mine, was pretty much trial and error. I started out with main block made from resin pour blocks that I had saved. Once the initial shape was achieved, I started adding the transmission which was made from epoxy and a Panther wheel mount I found in the parts box. The radiator is fashioned from a Tamiya M113 grill and sheet stock. The various filters etc., are from rod stock and the air filter is also from the Tamiya M113 that I sanded down and reworked. Pipes and lines are all lead solder. Here are some in progress and finished photos. Sorry I don't have more, but I really didn't do a good job of documenting this build.
These are the reference pictures I used to build the engine.
I hope these help. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

The models look and probably perform better than the real thing ever did

No argument there. As a former XO in a Mech Inf Bn, I can attest to the fact that ours stayed broken down more than they ran. However, we did manage to swim them once a year per EUCOM Directive.

Dave-- Can I assume that you either successfully "floated" them or that you suddenly retired right after your XO time?
The real nightmare was the GOERs...we had them in my battalion when I took command and swapped them out for the marvelous HEMETT...great vehicles.

Dave,
Thank you very much for your attention.
Today I downloaded the manuals TM-9-2320-242-10-1, 2, 3 and 4, on Google Books.
At present I am working in the fuel tanks and battery protectors.
As soon as possible I insert pictures.
Regards.

DJ - The AR Bn that was co-located on the Kaserne with us had GOERs. Seems we had a running contest to see who could keep the most vehicles running
I wish I had pictures to show, but it wasn't funny (well maybe a little) back then. Sometimes we had a working Goat towing a "Dead-Lined" Goat for swim tests. Probably not totally right, but we did meet the Directive and have "All" Goats water tested once a year.
