Hello everyone!

I am currently in the process of building the Tamiya StuG III "Finnish Army" version. It is my favourite model so far, and I would like to go "all out" with it ! I noticed that tamiya released (and obviously not included in the kit) a PE parts set.

My question is - should I get the Tamiya set or should I get some other brand's PE parts (or both) ?

Below is a link to a shop with all the PE parts listed...and the list is massive! I'm blown away by the options, which should I even consider?

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the barrel.. (I assume its this one? http://www.model-making.eu/products/German-StuK.40-L-48-7-5-cm-Barrel-with-middle-muzzle-brake-for-Stug.III-Ausf-G-middle.html)

I'm mostly concerned with the visual effect ("eyecandy") of the exterior rather than accuracy, although I'll be trying to depict the following StuG ("Marjatta"):

From my experience Tamiya gives you always a pretty basic set, grills and maybe some small other parts. (although not shure about that StuG) Perfect for beginners, but nothing to freak "the expierenced" out.

Better check that for the conversin sets out there: http://www.scalemates.com/search.php?section=0&q=stug+iii+tamiya+1%3A35&qs=Search&mf=&scale=&mfinput=&cat=&period=
(as there is a ojager set specially made for the finish version: http://www.scalemates.com/products/product.php?id=216044 )

For me in general Eduard, Voyager or Aber is often the choice of Availability, Price and "what you get" -> Check instriuctions or reviews of the products.
Although Eduard sets are often said to be easier, and Aber more complex, while you sometimes get some extra (non PE) pieces with Voyager.... but that can all differ from set to set...

I'm partial to the Voyager sets, though the tool clamps drive me crazy. Overall, they seem to be the most complete.

As Fabian stated, the Tamiya sets are usually not much more than the screens.

you aren't the only one who goes nuts with those clamps!!!

Personally, I usually go Eduard (if available) because I find them easier to work with. Generally, their hinges and clamps are easier to build because they are simplified somewhat and not workable. Voyager's stuff is beautiful but I have a heck of a time getting it to look like it is supposed to!
