Hi all, I am writing from Spain, I take some time reading this forum but this is the first time I write here.
I want to present the latest model I've finished. It is a Finnish BMP-1. The Trumpeter model is mounted virtually out of the box. I've only changed the antenna base, the coaxial machine gun and the tracks. I have also used Archer welds to complete the hull welds.
During painting I did some experiments, such as giving an zenithal light (or I try it) or make mud and other effects of wear and dirt with enamel and oils products. Also the paint scheme itself was an experiment, as it is the second vehicle that I apply a camouflage with hard edges (I did the previous with brush and Model Color paint very diluted).
I hope you like it:
I also put some pictures of two assemblies that I have finished these weeks. They are a Tamiya Type 10 and T-55 of the same brand, modified to represent the Soviet version.

Great results! I love the camo, you've really nailed it. As for the weathering it is spot on. Congrats on a mighty fine build.

Really nice work on BMP-1, love the camouflage scheme. The T-55 also looks great.

Beautiful model, Emilio!
I love the BMP-1 in splinter cammo, and you did a fabulous job with the painting and weathering.
Sweden also used the BMP-1 (PBV 501), and of course also in splinter cammo :-)
May I ask what colour mixes you used for the cammo?
Cheers,
Sven

Hi all, many thanks for your comments, I'm glad that you have enjoyed you my models. After several tests, I decided to make the camouflage colors with Tamiya XF5, XF69, and a mixture of XF5 + XF3 to light green.
Sven, I did not know that Sweden will use Soviet vehicles. They are vehicles for training or use in the first line?
I liked this kind of camuflages and I hope to do another one, although I have never been a great painter.

Hello Emilio,
Thanks for the colour references :-)
Yes, Sweden has used some Soviet vehicles, for example BMP-1 (Swedish name Pbv501), MTLB (Pbv401), MTLB recovery version (Bgbv 4012), MTLBu (for example an ambulance version called Sjvpbv 4024) and also the one early T-72 "Ural" (used as OPFOR vehicle during training) and a T-55 bridgelayer. All these vehicles were from former East German stock as I understand it.
You can find nice pics on Prime Portal.
None of these vehicles have been used in front line action as far as I know (except - I think, but am not sure, that the recovery version of the MTLB was used in KFOR for a short time - but I could be wrong.)
The colours you have used for your Finnish BMP-1 are a pretty close match to the Swedish vehicles (at least in your photos).
Once again, great work!

I agree, you are not a great painter, you are an exceptionally great painter! Very well done on the BMP. Paint and weathering are fantastic!
