Well best to my knowelege no units took the time to repaint their equipment prior to deploying to Iraq.

The Marines used both sand and NATO colored vechicles....in the same unit!

Seems like it all depends on whether or not the unit drew their vehicles from POMCUS or MPS ships or brought them with them from CONUS. My unit's LAVs were shipped to theater from Pendleton and were in NATO camoflage, although both 1st and 3rd LAR had a mix, but the majority were NATO also...

Hello,
To answer you question in regard to Army units. Some units are assigned a global area of responsiblity. The 3rd ID for example is Southwest Asia, ie sand colored vehicles. I think the 4th ID also has a Southwest Asia area of responsiblity. The 82nd and 101st are both rapid deployment units, so they don't have a area of responsiblity. Another factor with Army vehicles is where did they come from? Numerous units drew vehicles from Doha, these vehicles are generally sand colored. When you pick a model subject try to find out if and where they may have a area of responsiblity. I hope this helps answer your question in regard to Army vehicles.
