I'm a CVR(t) junkie and I need some brains to pick about LEP mods plus I'd like to see who else shares my obession. It's not just CVR(t)s though. I've got a couple of Warriors and a Stillbrew in the closet.
And for those of you in the UK, I see that Soldier, Soldier is coming out on DVD. Is this worth picking up? Is it as good as the Red Cap series I've seen on BBC America?

Hi, I build British armour when it's available. I've built a Chieftain, Scorpion, Warrior (Op Granby). I've got a Rover 7 Ambulance on the go as well as the SAS variants by Tamiya and Italeri. I have bought the Trumpeter AS90 and Chally 2, but intend getting the Chally 2 Telic kit as well. I would love to build the rest of the CVR(T) range by Accurate Armour, but they're sooooo expensive. Additionally I would like to see Stalwarts, Saxons, Humber Pigs, etc and more up to date Landies. As for Soldier, Soldier. It's cheesy, but if you liked Redcaps you'll probably like it. In the late seventies there was a series called Spearhead, I don't know if it's available yet as it was a little sensitive being all about "the troubles". Keep building the Brit armour, I intend too.

i build all kinds of british armour, including modern,
one of the main problems is most of the modern kits i want to build arent available in plastic,
CET, conqueror, decent chieftan, various softskins etc,
now if we had some of these rather than the german crap all the time, i be happy
cheers

I have a Tamiya Chieftain and two Challenger 1's (Tamiya and Lee) built in my display case now. I also have a Scorpion, Warrior, Land Rover 109 (with FiringLine detail set) and another Challenger 1 (another Tamiya kit to replace ugly Lee model in my collection) waiting on my box pile. I plan to buy another Warrior soon (to build one as BATUS FV511 using AA conv.set and another OOTB as IFOR FV510). I also wait for the new Trumpeter Chally II kits - probably will get both. Sonner or later I will probably also get an AFV Club Scimitar kit. I also think about Trump's AS90, but I'm still not convinced if I really want to build SPG models (although I already have two various SPGs built and another two waiting for their turn...).

I've built the AA kit of the Warrior and Scimitar, superb kits although the tracks on the Scimitar are a bit flimsy and are prone to snap the outside triangles of the track off.
I have also built the Tamiya Challenger and scratch built the added armour for desert storm before any after market stuff was produced. Wen I check against diagrams that were released in Military Modeller, My dimensiions were bout 1mm out, not bad for eye judgement eh?
I'm waiting for the Telic kit at the mo'
I also love to build WWII British vehicles.

I am a big fan of Bristish armor/armour. I have in my inventory: Centurion Mk. III, Chieftan Mk. V, Challenger I, Warrior Mk. V, Scimitar FV107. In trucks I have Bedford cargo, Chev. gun truck and Quad gun truck with 25 pdr. Looking to add a Scorpion, Weasel and Scimitar FV102. I too belive that there is a glut of German kits on the market but I just have to take what is available and hope for more.

I do modern British armor off and on. Finished are a UN Scimitar and a BATUS Challenger (which one Best British Military at the 02 Granitecon, when John R's reflagged Panther Cookoo should have won..)
Almost done are a Desert Storm/Granby Scorpion a Warrior, a generic Revell Germany Landrover.
On the shelf are DML brit figs, AS90 (Trump) AA's Starstreak and support vehicle and a Swingfire.
Looking forward to Panda's offerings if they ever materialize.

Hi Paul, I love the brit stuff and would like to build more of it! I've done a couple warriors (IFV & MCRV), BATUS Chieftain, Telic AS-90, rovers etc. Going to try a 22 Regt Unimog sometime and of course the new trumpeter Chally 2. Would also like to try a Future Engineer Vehicle based on teh Chally chassis

Hi Paul,
I have built a Tamiya Chieftain (backdated to a Mk 3), Revell LandRover Srs III , and an Academy Warrior ( lower hull and suspension done with the AA update set to add), have in the to do pile :
3 x Chieftains (waiting to get some of the AA conversions)
4 x Tamiya Challenger 1's (some to build as tanks and one to convert into CARRV)
1 x AFV Club Scimitar & Scorpion
2 x Trumpeter Chally 2
2 x Trumpeter AS-90
1 x AA FV-438 with Swingfire ATGW
1 x AA Land Rover 110 WMIK
1 x Italeri Land Rover Combat Car
1 x Revell LandRover Srs III
1 x LandRover Ambulance
1 x Pink Panther LandRover
2 x Italeri M-109 (1 short & 1 long barrel)
1 x Italeri M-107
2 x Academy Warriors (1 to be converted into MRV/MCRV)
1 x Dragon MLRS
All thes will be finished (I promise myself) as British Army vehicles, by the way making this list, I have just realised I will have to take early retirement just to build them
I have also become very interested in the British & Commonwealth vehicles of the WW2 Desert Campaign, and have started to buil a small collection of kits from this era.
Happy modelling

I am also an enthusiast of modern British armour. When I started buliding military models
in my late teens I immediately embraced modern British subjects .... and I can't really
explain why!! When I returned to Uni for a second degree (sucker for punnishment) I gave
up modelling and everything else fun for that matter. It was only last year that I returned to
the 'one true path' as I became a bit of a workaholic as I established myself in my new
career (which is software development by the way). I have since however learned the value
of once again having 'a life' and I make time for my hobbies (I now leave work at the office).
I currently have a Challenger 1 Mk.3 on my workbench. It will be a King's Royal Hussar's
up-armoured vehicle serving in the Balkans during the late 1990s. I have many other
modern British subjects waiting on the shelves and many more on my wish list. I also
plan to build some modern Swedish subjects (Strv 122 and Strv 103C - I have the kits
sitting on my wall of death) as the camo pattern is quite natty indeed!!
I too am a little frustrated by the paucity of injection molded (and reasonably priced) Brit
armour. That being said, I am a big fan of all of Accurate Armour's offeringd because
despite the sticker shock I find their kits are very well researched and executed; I find
them to be a very good value. Like everyone else though my disposable income is
limited so I would like to see more mainstream injection molded kits to hit the market
in the genre. However, as my wall of death now contains 16 unbuilt kits I am trying to
actually complete a few before I make any additional purchases. I would love to build
the entire range of CVR(T & W) vehicles at some point ... but that will have to wait as
I have a few other projects lined up first!!
I have often wondered if the glut of WWII German subjects is a chicken and egg thing.
I have often thought that people choose to build in that genre because there are lots
of reasonably priced kits available which in turns lead manufacturers to churn out more
kits in that already overdone subject area. I have noted several ardent fans of WWII armour
to have changed alleigance temporarily and build the Tamiya's T-55 because it's such a
nice kit. Would it not be safe to assume that if their were more kits of post war subjects
of similar quality that more modellers would build them (if you build it they will come)?
Cheers - Dan

I forgot to mention that I have done a fair bit of research on the Scimitar LEP modifications.
Hence please feel free to fire away with your questions and I shall do me best to answer.
