Hello all,
Has anyone seen this M113 update set on sale anywhere? It includes some pretty nice items not included in other M113 update sets, such as much needed replacements for the kit periscope housings.
Strangely, it does not seem to be available anywhere. I wonder if Voyager simply skipped this release? That would be a shame in that case.

It's still listed in the "Coming Soon" section of the site.
It has been listed there for several months....maybe someday it will be released.

I hope so :-)
Unusual for Voyager to have sets "coming soon" for so long.
Even better would of course be a completely new, state of the art, series of M113's in styrene :-)

I've tried to contact Voyager directly before with no response, so unfortunately that's a lost cause.

I have completed plans for the bar armor. Just need the funding to have them produced. The plans are for PE frames and styrene rods for the bars. I used a lot of photos and help from guys on this site and others to complete the plans. My plans include the stand off armor and the bar armor all in one set so that you don't need to buy multiple sets. It is for the Academy A3.

Also, I sent the plans off to my manufacturer and they were returned with some corrections. Unfortunately, I lost the email with all the corrections due to a computer crash. I haven't sent the plans off again yet for another try. Need to do that again.

The M113 bar armour is slightly different on the front hull for the Canadian version in case that is the way you are leaning.

Darn, was exactly the way I was going, would like to build a TLAV with the Bar armour, was the side and rear sections the same as the US version or was the whole kit completely different. Was thinking I might be able to use individual sections from a Stryker/LAV update set. Might be a bit of a challenge to scratch build this, might be easier to modify.

Rod

Hi Corry, here is the vehicle in question the photo is from this tread.
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/145900
Photo was posted by Richard Saucier.
Compared to the image you posted I would need to remove the top two corners, don't think that would be too difficult.
I have some more photos of TLAVs at home but don't have any of the American versions to compare to.
Hope you get this project off the ground.
Regards,
Rod

Sorry Sven seem to be hijacking your tread here.
The side and rear sections appear to be the same from the eye ball comparisons I have done.
The front bar armour section not only has the upper sections modified but there is also a unique horizontal step plate on the Canadian TLAVs that attaches to the front hull and bar armour frame.
As well, you can make out in Rick's image the distinct mounting frame painted in CARC green that is attached to the add-on armour sections. The frame on the U.S. M113s with bar armour that I have seen does not look like this.
To top it off there are also the extended armoured side skirts on the Canadian TLAV.

Wonder how tough it would be to scratch build this looks like many of the sections are the same size. I could build a jig for those.
Anyone out there try and build their own bar armour? Plastic strips may be to flimsy would prefer to stay in plastic. Might have to learn to solder I guess brass would be more durable and easier to handle during construction.
I have some photos of the Queen Marys over in the sand box, they have the side skirts attached but no bar armour. Would assume they are the same. Have to look though my photos to see if I have some better pics of the mounting brackets to see how they were attached to the hull.
Sorry again Seven better move this off to it's own thread.
Regards,
Rod

From the pics I have seen, the sides and rear of the US and Canadian bar armors look very similar. They may be different but I'm not entirely sure. I can see a difference in the front sections up in the top corners. I do believe however that most of the photos that I based my designs on were actually from Canadian M113s. I'm OK with that. I like the M113 with the bar armor no matter whose flag it's wearing.
Now with this newer interest, I just need to find a way to get these produced so you all can build some!

Unusual for Voyager to have sets "coming soon" for so long.
I hope you were being sarcastic - all of the sets in the coming soon list on their site (at least, all that have PE catalog numbers) that appear before the M113 set were announced before it and have yet to appear. Most of them appeared on the list very soon after the release of the kit they're intended for. That means the oldest ones - for the Dragon Aufklarungspanzer 38(t) kit 75mm KwK - have been "Coming Soon" since 2007. The kit's no longer even available (ditto for pretty much all the older "Coming Soon" Dragon items) so it's unlikely to ever appear. In terms of keeping "Coming Soon" products on the list, Voyager's in the same league as ICM were with their promised 2S19 kit.
At least the M113 kit still being available means it might appear eventually - not so for most of the sets that have been listed for ages. I wish they'd give the list a clean out and make it clear once and for all what is or isn't going to appear. While it's highly unlikely that the sets for Dragon 6310 will ever be released, they look sufficiently nice that I'm unlikely to build the actual kit until I absolutely know for certain that they won't be coming.
